TIER SYSTEM

just the right amount of challenge

Ronin uses a tiered system that allows you to be challenged just the right amount. Practices and games that challenge you too much or too little is not good for your development, stressful, and not fun!

Every athlete begins in tier 1 and progresses to the next tier when ready.

LEVEL 1

Controlling pressure is key to winning, as such this level is focused on serving and passing. Stronger passing results in more offensive options, making your team less predictable and more difficult to defend.  On the opposite side of the coin, stronger serving results in a limited offensive options and allows your your defense to be more set/prepared.  Of course everybody wants to hit better so we do offer hitting classes in this level as well.

  • Passing: forearm positioning and footwork

  • Serving: arm work and footwork

  • Attacking: arm swing and footwork

LEVEL 2

Once you are more proficient at serving and passing we will translate them into playing success by integrating the skills. You’ll also be introduced to blocking, digging, volleying, and basic team strategies.

  • Rotation

  • Pass and attack: preparing to attack after a pass

  • Defend and transition to offense

  • Defensive formation

LEVEL 3

This level focuses on advance team strategy and position specialization. The key to consistently winning is ensuring every player understands specific game situations. A few examples are:

  • What do we do when our team digs the ball and the setter cannot get to it?

  • What are the best options when I have two blocks and the opposition knows i’m getting set the ball?

  • Where to place free balls

WHEN CAN I MOVE UP A TIER?

Athletes are reviewed each month to see if they are ready to move up to the next tier.  If you feel you should be moved up sooner please email us using the contact form below and we will re-evaluate.

I HAVE FRIENDS THAT WANT TO JOIN/TRY A HIGHER LEVEL CLASS

CAN I DO LOWER LEVEL CLASSES?

Yes, absolultely. Tier 3 can do both level 2 and 1 classes, and level 2 can do level 1 classes.
